A Website Built To Track Spread Of Coronavirus By Instagram Co-founders

The fight of the deadly pandemic coronavirus has seen the cofounders of Instagram creating a website in an effort to track the spread of Covid-19, this latest development was confirmed to be used imminently.

The website which is called it uses figure known in epidemiology as the effective reproduction number. Website’s function is to track average number of non-infected who can catch the virus from the one who is infected.

It is encouraging to note that the Covid-19 Tracking Project is an all-volunteer initiative that gather data from reliable and trustworthy known sources, such as public health authorities and reports collected from different regions. The collected data will detail number of Covid-19 tests done, the statistics of positive and negative cases, number of those hospitalised and deaths.

Systrom said the goal with was to help give people a better understanding of what the spread of the virus looks like at the local level.
