Telegram may be WhatsApp’s best alternative and we can’t also hide the fact that it actually offers more convenience more than Facebook’s WhatsApp to a certain extent. Here are some of the features they have added on their platform.
Users can now upload a video on their profile and choose any frame they like for their static profile picture in chats. Users in countries like Zimbabwe may however find it data consuming as data is quite expensive this side.
Filter New Chats From Non-Contacts
Thanks to People Nearby and groups with up to 200,000 members, you can always find someone to chat with. Public figures sometimes have the opposite problem and may wish to tone down the attention they receive — Telegram has got this covered too.
If you’re getting too many messages from non-contacts, try the new switch in Privacy & Security settings to automatically archive and mute new chats from people not in your contacts. You can access these chats anytime from the Archive folder and bring them back to the main chat list in a tap.
Group owners with over 500 members can now make use of the detailed graphs showing the number of messages viewed and the number of posting members. Telegram is planning to roll out access to group stats for admins of all groups with 100 members or more in the near future.
Multiple Accounts on Telegram Desktop
Users can now switch from one account to another, telegram lets you stay signed in on 3 accounts from different phone numbers without logging out. Telegram’s mobile users have been enjoying this feature since 2017 since 2017, and today it’s coming to the multi-platform Telegram Desktop.
File limit increased to 2 GB
Before the update, Telegram had the standard file size limit pegged at 1.5 GB and now they have upgraded to 2 GB. Most users have actually been utilising this by sharing movies and sharing content as broadcasts. This also poses great threats to WhatsApp as it is still only restricted to 16mb which is insane as one can hardly share even video clips.
The social media giant seems to be doing all they can to penetrate the market and some of the upgrades may actually convince some users to join their social platform.
