WhatsApp Should Consider Fingerprint Unlock Backup

0

Facebook has gone a step further in securing WhatsApp, the fingerprint unlock option was introduced late last year and it was long overdue as the users were concerned over their privacy and some had already given preference to WhatsApp GB.

The new initiative was however supposed to accompanied by a backup, as the application may want to be used by a third part without the required credentials, this may sound silly, but at one point I was eating and could not even use the application as I could not make use of the fingerprint. At least an alternative of a PIN code should be available on the application incase of any similar circumstances. Hopefully face recognition will also be an option soon as it will offer more option to the social platform.

Here Is How You Can Activate The Fingerprint Unlock Option:

Enable fingerprint lock

  1. Open WhatsApp > tap More options > Settings > Account > Privacy.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Fingerprint lock.
  3. Turn on Unlock with fingerprint.
  4. Touch the fingerprint sensor to confirm your fingerprint.
  5. You can tap to select the amount of time before fingerprint authentication is prompted.
    • Turn on Show content in notifications if you’d like to preview message text inside new message notifications.

Disable fingerprint lock

  1. Open WhatsApp > tap More options > Settings > Account > Privacy.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Fingerprint lock.
  3. Turn off Unlock with fingerprint.

Note:

  • This feature is only available on Android devices with a fingerprint sensor running Android 6.0+ and isn’t supported on the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
  • In order to use fingerprint lock, you’ll need to have it enabled in your phone’s settings.
  • You can still answer calls if the app is locked.
