The electronic payment system which was introduce last year by HIT in partnership with NMB and ZUPCO has since been a success as witnessed by its wide coverage usage nationwide. Zimbabwe United Passengers Company (Zupco) rolled out this cashless system as a way of offering convenience to its clients.
The TapCard still has no charges and ZUPCO is now looking forward to diversify the system so that the same tap card will also be used in shops. Maybe this time they will now add a charge as people have now got a grip of its convenience.
It seems the TapCard will soon be like any other bank card which can be used everywhere. Targeting the ZUPCO as its entry point was really a good move as they were able to target huge market at once.
